RCT's 2008-2009 SEASON

 

Due to exciting and extensive renovations to the Nazareth College Arts Center, RCT has had to change its originally-scheduled 18th season to accommodate a variety of alternative venues.  Rest assured, RCT will be back at the state-of-the-art Arts Center for its 2009-2010 season!  Please contact our office at 585-385-0510 if you have any questions or concerns.  For all RCT and Arts Center co-productions, please call (585) 389-2170 for tickets starting September 9, 2008.

Public Shows

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

Dates: October 18, 19, 25 & 26

Time: 2PM all shows

Admission: $15 general admission

Location: Under the heated “Big Top” on the Nazareth College campus. RCT and Nazareth College Arts Center bring Washington Irving’s classic tale of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman to life in a spooky, outdoor setting.  Happy Halloween!

Dates: November 8, 9, 15 & 16

Time: 11/8 @ 7PM, 11/9 @ 4PM, 11/15 @ 7PM, 11/16 @ 2PM

Admission: $15 general admission

JCC’s Hart Theatre. RCT and the Jewish Community Center present a stage adaptation of Lois Lowry’s award-winning Holocaust novel.   

 

Stuart Little

Dates: November 22 & 23,  December 14, January 4, 10 & 11, 2009

Time: 2PM all shows

Admission: $12 general admission

Nazareth College’s Shults Center ForumRCT and Nazareth College  Arts Center present Joseph Robinette’s dramatization of E. B. White’s classic tale.  The many adventures, both large and small, of Stuart Little are brought vividly to life in this charming story-theatre production.  A series of delightful exploits make up the marvelous maneuverings of a mild-mannered mouse trying to survive in a “real people’s” world. 

 

A Child’s Christmas in Wales

Dates: Dec. 13 & 20 at 7 p.m. and Dec 14 & 21 at 4 p.m.

Admission:  $12 general admission  in Nazareth College’s Linehan Chapel (in the Golisano Academic Center). RCT and Nazareth College Arts Center bring Dylan Thomas’ beloved and poetic short story to life for older children and adults in this intimate reading/production.

 

 

 

Narnia

Dates: March 14, 15 & 21, 2009

Time: 2 PM

Admission: $15 general admission in Nazareth College’s Linehan Chapel (in the Golisano Academic Center). RCT and Nazareth College Arts Center bring the most famous of The Chronicles of Narnia stories – The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe – to life for audiences of all ages with this excellent musical adaptation by Jules Tasca (book), Thomas Tierney (music) and Ted Drachman (lyrics). The heroic C. S. Lewis tale of courage and friendship is filled with enchantment and adventure, and highlights the triumph of good over evil.

 

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast,

Dates: May 16, 17, 23 & 24, 2009

Time: 2 PM

Admission: $20 general admission under the “Big Top” on the Nazareth College campus. RCT and Nazareth College Arts Center invite audiences to step into the enchanted world of this modern Broadway classic with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and book by Linda Woolverton. Audiences will be transported by this vibrant production of a “tale as old as time” that teaches positive values while offering family theatre at its best.

Gooney Bird Greene and Her True Life Adventures

Based on the book Gooney Bird Greene by Lois Lowry

This production will open up a world of imagination for children,

as they realize that their own lives are as unique as the book’s

colorful character, Gooney Bird Greene. Students will cast

themselves as heroes in their own true tales of discovery and adventure.

And Then They Came for Me: Remembering the World of Anne Frank,

By James Still

This outstanding presentation combines videotaped testimony of two Holocaust survivors with live actors, putting a human face on what might otherwise be just a chapter in history books and generating opportunities for class discussion as students confront moral questions that still threaten our society today.

Shakespeare Alive! A Midsummer Night’s Dream

By William Shakespeare; adapted by Rochester Children’s Theatre

Abridged, yet true to the Bard’s richly poetic language, RCT’s version of Shakespeare’s romantic comedy will enthrall your students while introducing them to history’s greatest playwright. The production skillfully retains the integrity of the text, allowing students to
